Currently, downgrading a Windows VPS plan is not possible due to limitations in Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization. The Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) in Hyper-V-based virtual machines cannot be reduced in size, preventing a downgrade in disk space allocation.
Why Can’t a Windows VPS Be Downgraded?
-
Hyper-V Limitation – The VHD cannot be shrunk once allocated.
-
Storage Constraints – If you upgrade to a higher plan (e.g., VPS with 100 GB disk space), you cannot reduce it later (e.g., to VPS with 60 GB disk space).
Alternative Solutions
If you need a different VPS plan, we recommend:
✔ Migrating to a New VPS – A fresh VPS setup with the desired plan.
✔ Optimizing Your Current VPS – Managing storage efficiently to maximize performance.
